According to Walmart's blog, they'll be testing home delivery in partnership with August home, a leading provider of smart locks. The goal is to deliver groceries straight to your fridge when you're not home.
Here's how it works: Customer places an order with Walmart on their website which can include groceries. Walmart will deliver the order to their home and ring the doorbell. If there's no answer, they'll use the one-time passcode, which the customer has authorized, using the August Home lock technology. Once they're in the customer's home, they'll fill the fridge with groceries.
According to Walmart, "These tests are a natural evolution of what Walmart is all about – an obsession in saving our customers not just money but also time."
