A few bathroom touches to bring your spring into view

Instagram can be a great place to gather decor ideas, and the ones Realtor.com's Larissa Runkle gathered are no exception. She speaks of how a hot shower or a long soak in the tub at the end (or beginning) of an unpredictable spring day can be magical and identifies how some very basic items added to your bathroom can make your “necessary room” an inviting place without breaking the bank.

The first is a shower bench. Just because your shower doesn’t have one built in doesn’t mean you can find one that not only works but adds a touch of luxury. “When it comes to creating bathroom spaces that feel luxurious and linger-worthy, a bath bench like a wooden one from Style Sourcebook is just the ticket. These benches are often made from tropical woods that are ideal for water play.

“The integration of a shower bench aligns perfectly with the contemporary desire for comfort and luxury,” says designer Guillaume Drew. “It offers a space to relax and unwind while also elevating the bathroom to a spa-like ambiance, encouraging a more leisurely pace.”

Next is a long mirror. Some mirrors aren’t just functional—they’re statement pieces. Choose an oblong one (try the Rogie Oval Mirror) or one that is oddly shaped but functional. Modern, utilitarian elegance defined.

How about a vintage curio cabinet? One with glass doors and carved detail (you can find them in thrift stores from time to time, but take a look at the Colucci Accent Cabinet) functions as a delightful storage piece for a modern bathroom. Alternate towel colors or baskets and coordinated, colored-glass bottles and you’ve just elevated your bathroom space.

Something about frosted glass can speak to our inner sense of spa-derived luxury. Frosted glass globe pendants or fixtures lend a hushed elegance to a bathroom design, blending an old world charm with a modern touch. For an eye-catching moment, try mounting semi-flush lighting fixtures on your wall for an unexpected twist, suggests designer Amanda Foster. Check out Yearby Glass Semiflush Mount Lights to get the look.

Shower curtains can still rock – especially when you want to turn your bathroom from a Finding Nemo kids’ space to an adult spa. To break from the norm for an unexpected look try a double-sided shower curtain (try @dabito) that offers an elevated aesthetic that doesn’t compromise on utility. It’s a visual treat from both the inside and the outside, underscoring an attention to detail and a touch of elegance.
